Pest Control and Wildlife Removal FAQ

Answers to the questions Connecticut homeowners and business owners ask us most. Do not see yours? Call (833) 659-0727.

Do you offer 24 hour pest control and wildlife removal?

Yes. Our phone line is answered around the clock, and emergency dispatch is available across Connecticut.

What areas do you serve?

All of Connecticut, including Fairfield, Hartford, New Haven, New London, Litchfield, Middlesex, Tolland and Windham counties.

Do you offer same-day service?

Same-day pest control and wildlife removal is available in most towns when you call before noon.

Is your wildlife removal humane?

Yes. We use live traps, one-way exclusion doors and hand removal of young, and we follow Connecticut wildlife rules.

Do you offer pet-safe or organic pest control?

Yes. Eco-friendly and pet-safe options are available for residential and commercial plans.

How is pricing handled?

We inspect first and then quote a flat, written price. No surprises.

Do you require a contract?

No. Recurring plans can be cancelled at any time.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, check and all major credit cards.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day pest control is available in most Connecticut towns. Call before noon and we can usually be there the same afternoon.

How much does an exterminator cost?

Price depends on the pest and the size of the home. We give a flat, upfront price after the inspection so there are no surprises.

Is your wildlife removal humane?

Yes. We use live traps and one-way doors, and we follow Connecticut wildlife regulations for every species we handle.

Is this the same as animal control?

Municipal animal control handles domestic animals and public safety. We handle nuisance wildlife on private property.

Mice or rats — how do I tell?

Mouse droppings are the size of a grain of rice; rat droppings are the size of a raisin. Either way, call and we will confirm.

How do I know I have mice?

Droppings in drawers, scratching in walls at night, chewed food packaging and a musky smell are the usual signs.

Rats in my yard but not the house — should I worry?

Yes. Yard rats move indoors when the weather turns. Early control is far cheaper.

What are the signs of termites?

Mud tubes on the foundation, discarded wings near windows, hollow-sounding wood and blistered paint.

How did I get bed bugs?

Usually from travel, guests, used furniture or a neighboring unit. It has nothing to do with how clean your home is.

Why do roaches keep coming back?

Because eggs hatch after spraying. Growth regulators and baits break the cycle where sprays cannot.

How do I know they are carpenter ants?

Large black ants, sawdust-like frass near wood and rustling in walls at night are the classic signs.

How long does mosquito spraying last?

About 3 to 4 weeks per treatment, which is why we recommend a seasonal plan.

Wasps are going into a hole in my siding — what now?

That is a wall-void nest. Do not seal the hole; they will chew into the house. Call us to treat it first.

Do you kill honey bees?

No. We work with local beekeepers to relocate honey bee colonies whenever the situation allows.

What are the sounds in my attic at night?

Heavy thumping, growling or chittering after dark is almost always a raccoon.

What time of day do I hear them?

Gray squirrels are active at dawn and dusk; flying squirrels run at night.

When can bats be removed?

Outside the May-to-August maternity season, when flightless pups would be trapped inside.

How do you trap a skunk without it spraying?

Covered traps keep the skunk calm. Our technicians handle hundreds each year without incident.

Are opossums dangerous?

Rarely. They are mostly bluff, but they carry fleas and should not be cornered.

Is the snake in my basement venomous?

Probably not, but send a photo before you get close. We can usually identify it from the picture.

How do you find a dead animal in a wall?

Odor is strongest closest to the source. We combine that with fly activity and thermal imaging.

What is in my attic?

Scratching at night: mice or flying squirrels. Thumping: raccoon. Chattering at dawn: gray squirrels. Squeaking at dusk: bats.

Do you really offer 24 hour service?

Yes. The phone is answered day and night for pest and wildlife emergencies in Connecticut.

Monthly or quarterly?

Quarterly works for most Connecticut homes. Monthly is best for homes near water, woods or with a history of rodents.

Do you work after hours?

Yes. Most commercial service is scheduled before opening or after closing.

I treated my dog — why do I still have fleas?

Because 95% of the fleas are eggs and larvae in the carpet, not on the pet.

Are Connecticut spiders dangerous?

Very few. Black widows are rare; brown recluses do not live here.

Birds are in my dryer vent — is that a problem?

Yes, it is a fire hazard. We remove the nest and install a bird-proof vent cover.

What is included in wildlife exclusion?

Sealing every current and potential entry point on the home, plus repair of the damage animals caused.
